Q: How Do I Figure Out How Much Sod I Need?
A: Please measure the length x width of each space to provide the most accurate measurement of the square footage. If you have questions please give us a call at 780-447-2961.
Q: How Long Can Sod Sit On Pallets For?
A: Sod can be kept on pallets for up to 2 days and will require watering.
Q: Do I Fertilize Before I Put The Sod Down?
A: Our sod is fertilized; you will not need to fertilize it again prior to installation. If you wish to fertilize it please wait a minimum of 2 weeks after installation.
Q: How Much Water Does It Require After Being Installed?
A: During installation, as soon as you have a spot big enough to water, we recommend to start watering.
Once the sod is fully installed, you will want to water it for one hour in the morning and one hour in the evening. This is required for at least the first couple of weeks until the sod takes root. Ensure to add an additional ½ hour of watering time if there is a heatwave. You will always want to avoid watering in the hot sun.
Installation that occurs in the fall requires 1 hour of watering per day. You can choose to either water in the morning or evening, but not both.
Q: How Long Does It Take For The Sod To Take Root?
A: Sod takes approximately 2 weeks to root. A light tug on a corner will show resistance once it is rooted.
Q: How Long Do I Wait Until I Can Mow It The First Time?
A: Once the sod has grown approximately 3 inches OR 2 weeks after installation, the sod should take root and be ready to mow.
Q: How Long Do I Have To Stay Off Of The Sod?
A: It is recommended to stay off of the sod for 2-3 weeks or until it takes root.
Q: How Do I Know If My Sod Has Taken Root?
A: You can pull back lightly on a sod corner; if it doesn’t move, then it is rooted.
